The Lily of the Valley is a small flower in Minecraft based on a real flower with the same name. They have a long drooping stalk, large leaves, and tiny white flowers hanging from the stalk. In this guide, we’ll walk you through finding the Lily of the Valley in the Bedrock and Java Editions of the game, plus everything it can be used for.

Where to Find the Lily of the Valley in Minecraft Java Edition
Lilies of the Valley are considered semi-rare in Java Edition because they are only found in the Flower Forest biome.
A Lily of the Valley farm can be created by using bone meal on the ground where lilies were previously found.
I attempted using bone meal on other grass blocks around the Flower Forest, but could only get more to grow when I used it on the patch of land I originally found lilies on.
Where to Find the Lily of the Valley in Minecraft Bedrock Edition
Like in Java Edition, Lilies of the Valley can be found in Flower Forest biomes.
The area they grow in can be bone mealed to create a Lily of the Valley farm.
However, they can also be found in several other biomes in Bedrock Edition. Using bone meal in each of these biomes has a chance of spawning Lilies of the Valley, although the Flower Forest is believed to have the best odds for farming lilies. The first of these is the Birch Forest.
The second biome they can be found in is the Mutated Birch Forest biome.
The third biome is a regular Forest biome.
The last biome they can be found in is the Roofed Forest.
How to Use a Lily of the Valley in Minecraft
Lilies of the Valley can be used for just about anything other flowers are used for in addition to being an ingredient for white dye. The easiest ways to obtain them are by hitting them with your bare hand, hitting them while holding an item, or having water run over the block they are placed on.
As a Decoration
Lilies of the Valley can be placed on the following blocks:
- Grass
- Podzol
- Mycelium
- Dirt
- Coarse Dirt
- Rooted Dirt
- Farmland
- Moss
- Mud
- Muddy Mangrove Roots
They can also be placed into small flower pots and placed around freely. They cannot currently be placed in Decorated Pots.
Using Lily of the Valley to Craft White Dye
One Lily of the Valley can be placed into a crafting grid to create one white dye.
Using Lily of the Valley to Craft Suspicious Stew
We all know and love Mushroom Stew in Minecraft. Its recipe involved one bowl, one brown mushroom, and one red mushroom combined on a crafting table.
However, adding a Lily of the Valley to this recipe will transform the product into Suspicious Stew.
Suspicious stew made with a Lily restores six hunger and gives players the Poison effect for 12 seconds in Java Edition and 10 seconds in Bedrock Edition. Using a different flower will change the effect, each of which is explained in the Minecraft Wiki.
Using Lily of the Valley for Bees
Like any other flower, Lilies of the Valley can be pollinated by bees and used to increase the amount of honey in a beehive.
They can also be used to get bees to fly towards you.
Lastly, they can be used to breed bees. Interact with two separate bees to put them into love mode and create a baby bee!
Likewise, they can be fed to a baby bee to make it grow into an adult faster. Additionally, certain saplings placed within two blocks of a Lily of the Valley have a 5% chance of growing with a beehive according to the Minecraft Wiki.
Using Lilies as Compost
Lilies can be placed into a composter with a 65% chance of raising the compost level.
